Our Story

Joe’s journey began with a dream to study tourism and hospitality after earning his baccalaureate. Financial challenges made attending university impossible, so he worked odd jobs to support himself while learning international languages, especially English. Through dedication and self-practice, he became proficient, opening doors to future opportunities.

He later joined Wings of Change, a tourism and hospitality university in Ambatosavavy, Nosy Be, where he studied for over three years. Joe gained both classroom knowledge and hands-on experience in tourism, learning the skills necessary to become an exceptional guide.

After graduation, Joe worked at a local travel agency, leading tours across Nosy Be and nearby islands.

While he was still working at the company, during the busy cruise ship season in Nosy Be, he had the chance to guide a group of five German clients from the AIDA cruise ship on a day trip to Nosy Tanikely and Nosy Komba. The group was friendly and curious, and their leader was a kind man named Frank.

After they arrived at Nosy Tanikely, Frank started a conversation with Joe. He was interested to know how Joe became a tour guide and what kind of life he had before reaching this point. Joe shared his story honestly — the challenges he faced and the journey he took to follow his passion.

At the end of their talk, Frank asked, “If I can help you, what would you like me to help with?” Joe didn’t ask for money — because for him, life is not about running after money. Instead, he said, “I want to study something new.” When Frank asked what it was, Joe said he wanted to learn how to make websites.

At that time, Joe didn’t think this dream would ever come true. But Frank kept his promise. He and his team supported Joe, helped him get started, and gave him the tools and encouragement to learn.

Joe decided to leave his job and focus on learning. He spent about one year studying online through Udemy. After a lot of hard work, he built his own website — the one you’re seeing now.

This journey shows that Joe is not only a passionate tour guide, but also a beginner web developer who enjoys learning and discovering how technology is growing in the world today.

His passion for tourism, combined with personal dedication and new digital skills, inspired him to create JOE NB TOUR MADA. Today, Joe not only personally designs and leads every excursion — offering guests authentic Malagasy culture, breathtaking landscapes, and the hidden gems of Nosy Be — but he also built and manages his own website, sharing his tours with the world in a modern, professional way. His journey shows how tradition and technology can come together to create something truly unique.
